The Story of… Glint Lamp
How It All Started – Glint
Functional and visually interesting luminaires that feature a unique and resourceful expression - a great complement to any interior. The Glint Lamp comes in two different shapes and four different colour options for the textile cord.
Starting point
The idea for the Glint Lamp originated in 2012. It started with the 6th edition of Remade in Portugal, an annual cultural program where designers and artists are challenged to reflect on environmental issues with the intention of proliferating environmentally conscious design. Roberto Cremascoli was responsible for the artistic direction of the exhibition held at EDP Foundation gallery, and this is where Glint was seen for the first time.
Development
Eco-Friendliness served as the motto for the exhibition and we, as a brand, have always employed materials that harvest from sustainable resources. Among the materials chosen were cork, steel, and LED light bulbs - faithful to the brand's identity and to the intention behind the exhibition.
The purpose of Glint is to be fun and versatile with an unrestricted and adjustable composition, inviting you to establish different lighting solution that fit your space. Designed by product designer duo Mendes’Macedo (Filipa Mendes and Gustavo Macedo) and prototyped by Gustavo Macedo, in the beginning Glint came in three contrasting shapes, with black and white as colour options and four different textile cords.
A few years ago, there weren't many energy-efficient light bulb options, and the prototype version of Glint was presented with a LED light bulb that wasn’t much to look at. We cannot overlook the importance of a light bulb’s aesthetic so improving that feature was at the top of our priorities.
